Caesars Palace and The Forum Shops 20 years ago

Twenty years ago, Caesars Palace opened their high-end shopping mall known as The Forum Shops.

I think it was the first time I had experienced an outdoor atmosphere indoors. The romanesque architecture and sky painted ceilings gave the impression of being outdoors walking the streets of ancient Rome. To add to the experience, lights on the ceiling provided the illusion of day and night.

Back then, the animatronic sculptures were popular to visitors new to Las Vegas. We were quite impressed as we watched these lifelike statues move to the music and light show.

So, I came across this video from my 8mm vault. It's of our family vacation twenty years ago. I was only 16 years old. In the video you'll get to see my nana, who almost always traveled with us, as well as my silly parents. Oh, and try not to laugh at my WAY blue shirt and gold necklace--it was the style back then.

Last week, my son attended the soccer camp at the University of Texas - Austin. From what I've gathered, he absolutely loved it.

To be honest, this surprised me. The reason why I was surprised was that my son doesn't run fast and I thought perhaps he'd be discouraged. I was wrong.

So my wife and I have to decide whether he should be in soccer in fall instead of baseball.
