When I was little, I remember sitting on the back of my grandfather's truck selling apples in Laredo, Texas. "Manzanas! Manzanas!" he would yell. I was then encouraged to yell the same to passerbys.
My grandfather, Grandpa Kiko, always had apples at the house. I was sure to have sliced apples everytime I visited him.
At a young age, I knew the importance of consuming apples--an apple a day keeps the doctor away. I didn't like shots and if that meant eating apples then I was all for it.
Recently, a team of scientists from Florida State University, found that apples may keep the doctor away. Examining 160 women ages 45-65, the FSU scientists found those subjects who ate an apple a day had lower bad cholestrol levels. Apples also act as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. In addition, apples contribute to body weight reduction.
